Eh?

                                                                        Eh?

Calgary

Some farmers are happy :)
Getting to Calgary offered us our first look at the snow capped Rockies. A most pleasant sight after hundreds of miles of ranch and crop land.  Appreciation for the hard work done by  ranchers is shared by Bucky and I.  Both Calgary and Edmonton seem to be bursting at the seams.  The prairie is giving way to new home construction, in fact whole new towns are being built.  There seems to be no lack of jobs for Canadians!  The Milepost becomes our guide once we reach Edmonton.  This gem of a publication tells us about every town, where camping is available, where to find gas and where the pull-offs are which often are where we spend our nights.  Now as we approach Grande Prairie, Alberta, the never ending farm fields have been replaced with never ending forest and roads into the oil patches. The trucks that pass us are a constant reminder of how huge the petroleum industry is to this part of Alberta.  Bucky has enjoyed watching the deer grazing along the highway.

Heading for Dawson Creek, BC and the beginning of the Alaska Highway.

When we stop tonight, we will have been on the road for 5 and 1/2 days, only stopping for gas, a quick lunch in the RV and for sleep at night.  When we reach Dawson Creek, we will have traveled 3200 miles.  We will drive 1282 miles on the AK Highway to Tok, AK and then another 250 more miles to Talkeetna for a total of something like, 4732 miles.  I'm hoping to be in Talkeetna for Summer Soltice and I've told Bucky I'm feeling an all nighter!!
